To stop clutch slip on high-horsepower Harley-Davidson® Big Twins, install a Trask Performance High-Pressure Clutch Spring Power Plate Kit. This heavy-duty upgrade eliminates clutch slippage on Milwaukee-Eight and Twin Cam engines by significantly increasing clamping force without requiring a full aftermarket clutch replacement. It provides the essential torque-holding capacity needed for built M8 Softail, Touring, and CVO models.

Trask Power Plate Kits

You’ve spent thousands building your Milwaukee-Eight® to push serious power. Then you crack the throttle hard in third gear and feel that sickening flutter, your clutch slipping under load. Stock Harley-Davidson® clutches were engineered for factory torque figures, not the 120+ HP your built motor is making. That slippage isn’t just frustrating, it’s wearing your friction plates and wasting the horsepower you paid for.

The Trask Power Plate Kit is a precision-machined billet aluminium upgrade that increases clutch holding pressure by 50%, applying over 300 lbs of force to your clutch pack compared to the stock 198 lbs. Race-proven to hold 220 HP, this bolt-on kit eliminates clutch slippage on Big Twin and Milwaukee-Eight® slipper clutches up to 200 HP. The kit (shown here) includes the CNC-machined black anodised power plate, high-performance springs, and 12-point hardware. Installation takes 10 minutes with basic hand tools.

Why Stock Clutches Slip on Modified Big Twins

Harley-Davidson® engineers spec’d the 2025up factory clutch spring pressure for bone-stock engines producing 90-110 HP. Add a Stage 4 kit, free-flowing exhaust, and a performance tune, and you’re suddenly making 125+ HP at the rear wheel. Your clutch pack doesn’t know it’s been outgunned until you’re halfway through a roll-on and feel it slip.

The Trask Power Plate solves this by applying 152% of clamping force, so 300+ lbs instead of 198 lbs. That’s enough holding power to manage 220 HP without clutch fade. You’re not changing friction materials or adding plates. You’re simply increasing the pressure on the pack you already have.

Race-Engineered for Real-World Reliability

Trask Performance didn’t build this kit in a spreadsheet. It was developed on their dyno in Phoenix, Arizona, and then proven on the racetrack before going into production. The billet aluminium Power Plate is CNC-machined in the USA from 6061-T6 alloy, then anodised for corrosion resistance and heat dissipation.

The included high-performance springs are manufactured to aerospace tolerances. They maintain consistent pressure through heat cycles and won’t sag like budget replacements. The 12-point hardware provides better grip than stock 6-point bolts, reducing the chance of stripping during installation or future maintenance.

Built for Big Twin and Milwaukee-Eight® Performance Applications

This kit fits a broad range of late-model Harley-Davidson® platforms: CVO Big Twin models from 2013up, ‘S’ models from 2016up, Softail models from 2018up, and Touring models from 2017up. If you’re running a tuned M8 or a big-inch Big Twin, this is the clutch upgrade that matches your engine’s output.

Whether you’re chasing lap times, running hard on backroad sprints, or just want confidence that your clutch won’t slip when you roll into the throttle, the Trask kit delivers. It’s made in the USA and backed by Trask’s reputation for performance engineering.

About Trask Performance

Trask Performance was founded in 2000 by Nick Trask, who turned a passion for high-performance motorcycles into one of the most respected names in V-Twin performance engineering. Based in Phoenix, Arizona, Trask builds turbo kits, exhaust systems, and precision performance parts designed for riders who demand more from their motorcycles.

Every Trask product is handcrafted in their state-of-the-art facility using cutting-edge CNC machinery and fabrication techniques. Their turbo systems, ranging from Stage 1 to Stage 2 setups capable of 120 to 300 rear-wheel horsepower, are pie-cut, back-purged, and TIG-welded by hand. Trask’s dyno-tuning expertise and race-track validation mean every part they produce is proven under the most demanding conditions before it reaches your bike.

Rollies Speed Shop carries Trask Performance because of their commitment to quality, performance, and rider satisfaction. When you install a Trask part, you’re installing a component engineered by people who ride hard and build harder.

About Trask Performance

Yes. The Trask kit increases clamping force on your existing clutch pack. You don’t need to upgrade friction plates or steels unless they’re already worn. The added pressure is enough to prevent slippage on modified Big Twins up to 200 HP.
Noticeably firmer than stock, but not uncomfortable for street riding. Most riders adapt within the first ride. If you have wrist or hand issues, consider a hydraulic clutch conversion alongside this upgrade.
Yes. The Trask Power Plate installs with the primary case in place. You only need to remove the derby cover and access the clutch pack from the left side of the bike. Total install time is 10-15 minutes.
Yes, as long as your bike falls within the fitment range (Softail 2018-up, Touring 2017-up, CVO 2013-up, ‘S’ models 2016-up). Harley-Davidson® hasn’t changed the slipper clutch design significantly since 2017 Touring / 2018 Softail introduction.
Modifications to the clutch system may affect warranty coverage. Check with your authorised Harley-Davidson® dealer before installation if your bike is under warranty. Most riders install performance parts like this after the warranty period has expired.
You may need to adjust clutch freeplay after installation, as the new springs will change the lever engagement point slightly. Follow your service manual’s clutch adjustment procedure after the kit is installed.
