Milwaukee-Eight Engines: Protecting Your Power Build
Milwaukee-Eight Engines have a great amount of Power trapped inside them. Power that you can unlock with a more aggressive cam, a high-flow air cleaner and performance exhaust, but unlocking that power means your M8 will run harder and hotter. When you’re modifying your Milwaukee-Eight to high-performance standards, it’s important to add extra levels of engine protection & S&S Cycle have designed great parts to prolong your engine’s life.
We highly recommend adding these parts to your shopping list when planning M8 Engine upgrades.
Billet Fuel Rail Kits for M8 Models
Cylinder Head Breathers for Milwaukee-Eight
Milwaukee-Eight Oil Control Valve
The stock oil control valve on oil-cooled M8 engines does its job—until it doesn’t. That factory check ball retainer? It’s just formed steel, and over time, it can weaken and break, sending metal fragments through your oil system and straight back into the tank. That’s a disaster waiting to happen.
S&S isn’t about taking chances with your engine. Their oil control valve is built from tough 6061 billet aluminum, and the check ball retainer is precision-machined from high-strength steel—made to last and handle the heat. If you’re running a performance motor, don’t gamble with stock parts. Upgrade before it costs you big.
Billet Heavy-Duty Compensator Ramp for M8 Engines
The Compensator Ramp plays a critical role in smoothing out power delivery from the engine to the primary drive.
- Absorbs Shock & Reduces Vibration – The compensator acts like a shock absorber, helping to dampen the power pulses from the engine before they hit the primary drive. This reduces strain on the drivetrain and makes for a smoother ride.
- Extends Component Life – By taking the brunt of the torque spikes, it helps protect your primary drive components (clutch, chain, and gears) from excessive wear.
- Reduces Noise & Harshness – A good compensator minimizes the “clunk” or “knock” sounds that can happen when engaging the transmission of your Milwaukee-Eight, especially at low RPMs .
When Should You Add These To Your Milwaukee-Eight?
All of these parts will help protect your Milwaukee-Eight as you start unlocking more power from the engine. We recommend all of these parts but you don’t need to get them all at once. These parts are located in different sections of your engine, so we suggest adding them as you make your Power upgrades to minimise labour costs for fitment.
It’s a simple rule: Whenever you add Power Boosting Parts, you should also replace weak OEM parts that needed to support that Power Boost. Following this rule will protect your engine for long hassle-free rides.
